Causes: Human Services, Senior Centers, Seniors
Mission: Provides various services to senior citizens including wellness checks, legal aid, eductional classes, volunteer opportunities and meals through its thirty-one senior centers throughout Tarrant County
Programs: Nutrition: provide nutritional meals to senior citizens needing assistance. During the year ending september 30, 2014, 3,295 clients were assisted and a total of 198,640 meals were served.
other program services include wellness programs for seniors such as diabetes self-management and fall prevention, social and educational activities and trips, and volunteer opportunities through the rsvp program. In addition to the congregate meal program at 28 senior centers across tarrant county, transportation services to and from the center was provided at selected senior centers for 641 clients.
center operations provide daily programming in senior centers. There are an average of 2 to 4 social activities a day beyond the meal. Senior center activities include exercise, games and socialization, nutrition education, volunteer training, benefits counseling, access to community resources and health programs. Some senior centers also have choirs, dance groups, music groups, yoga classes, quilting, ceramics, seasonal parties, outings and day trips.
